1. Montag is looking for a better understatement  of the books while Mildred is worried about someone finding out and burning the house down along with  burning the books and only caring about her "family". 2. Society believes that the war is nothing to worry about and that it will be over fast. 3. He was an English professor that was kicked out, say and talked on a bench with Montag and has the answers he seeks.  4.
